Coastal Air Assessments is an independent indoor environmental consulting firm founded and operated by J. Cory King, CIE. We provide mold assessments, post-remediation verification, indoor air quality testing, and building science diagnostics for residential, commercial, and government properties across South Florida.

Every assessment follows published protocols from independent scientific bodies: IICRC, ACAC, AIHA, and ACGIH. Not proprietary methodologies. Not franchise checklists. Standards that are peer-reviewed, publicly available, and defensible.

Cory brings more than 20 years of building science experience to every project. That experience means instrument readings are interpreted in context — how a building was constructed, how South Florida’s climate interacts with the building assembly, and what the data actually indicates versus what a surface observation alone might suggest.

Why independence matters to the science

Coastal Air Assessments performs assessment only. We hold no remediation license and have no contractor affiliations. This isn’t a marketing distinction — it’s a scientific one. Objective findings require that there is no financial stake in the outcome. When the same company assesses and remediates, the incentive structure is misaligned with the data. Our findings mean what they say because they’re not influenced by what the answer should be worth.

On credentials and standards

The credentials that matter in indoor environmental assessment are those issued by independent scientific and professional organizations: IICRC, ACAC, AIHA, and ACGIH. These organizations publish peer-reviewed standards and base credentialing on demonstrated competency. Proprietary certifications issued by franchise organizations or equipment manufacturers are not equivalent. When evaluating any assessor, verify licensure through the Florida DBPR and ask which published standards govern their methodology.
